DESCRIPTION
ClayBloc is a cationic liquid clay inhibitor used to reduce bit balling, clay accumulation and sticking problems experienced when drilling in reactive clay soils. The product can be used in clay or non-clay based systems and is NSF Certified.
Typical NSF recommended dosage is 0.5 liter/1000 liters or 0.5 gallons/1000 gallons. ClayBloc is NSF certified. Its use can be extended from oil & gas to industrial drilling, including water wells and mining. ClayBloc is manufactured in the USA.
ClayBloc is effective in both treated and untreated bentonite slurries. At the recommended dosage it has no negative effect on rheology nor will effect fluid loss. At higher doses it may cause minor viscosity increases but will not negatively impact fluid loss.
Typical Characteristics
- Appearance: Clear, light tan liquid
- Ionic Character: Cationic
- pH: 5.5-7
- Spec Gravity: 1.15
Applications
- Oil and Gas Drilling
- Horizontal drilling
- Industrial drilling
- Water well drilling
Benefits of Use
If ClayBloc is used from the beginning of the drilling process, (from pilot holes through completion) the following should be realized:
- Friction reduction during drilling
- Reduced or absent bore swelling
- Reduced pull back pressures
- Reduced torque requirements
- Improved hole cleaning
- Maintenance of filtrate loss and viscosity performance.
