DESCRIPTION
Wyo-Ben Wyo-Vis HP, DP, and LVP by Wyo-Ben are viscosifiers and shale inhibitors created to adjust the flow of mud and the update of water into shale formations. Wyo-Vis HP, DP, and LVP are available in a variety of different sizes. See the available sizes for Wyo-Vis HP, DP, and LVP in the drop-down menu.
VARIATIONS
Wyo-Vis HP
Builds sufficient viscosity drilling fluids to effectively clean the hole. *Liquid Viscosifier
Wyo-Vis DP
A dry fine granular viscosifying co-polymer (PHPA) for water-based drilling fluids. *Dry Viscosifier
Wyo-Vis LVP
A shale and clay stabilizer which inhibits the uptake of water into those formations. *Low Viscosity Shale Inhibitor
WYO-VIS HP
With its fast acting high performance formula, WYO-VIS® HP quickly builds viscosity and shields clay and shale formations. Typical treatment levels for fresh water drilling fluids are 0.25 to 1.5 quarts/100 gallons of water, depending upon the desired viscosity or level of shale stabilization required. WYO-VIS® HP builds sufficient viscosity drilling fluids to effectively clean the hole. In addition, WYO-VIS® HP stabilizes problem shale and imparts friction reducing properties to the fluid. For best results, mix EXTRA HIGH YIELDTM to a funnel viscosity of 35–40 seconds per quart, and then add WYO-VIS® HP to bring viscosity to 45–50 seconds per quart.
CHARACTERISTICS
WYO-VIS® HP provides the following advantages at low application rates.
• Builds viscosity fast
• Prevents bit balling
• Shields swelling clays
• Reduces torque
APPLICATION
For addition during air drilling operations for shale stabilization or stiff foam, WYO-VIS® HP can be mixed at a rate of 0.25 to 0.75 quarts per 100 gallons of water and used in conjunction with AIR FOAM® and WYO-FOAM™ 800.
WYO-VIS® HP can be thinned and broken down with sodium hypochlorite (bleach). When purging the hole and sanitizing well, treat with Clorox® (sodium hypochlorite) at a rate of 1 to 1 1/2 gallons per 100 gallons of drilling fluid.
PACKAGING
WYO-VIS® HP is available in 64-ounce pouches, 42 pound pails, and 9 pound jugs in cases of 4.
NEW Convenience-Sized Product Packaging for Small Drill Market
Wyo-Ben Inc., a leading provider of drilling fluids to the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) market, has announced new “convenience-sized” packaging for four of its most popular products. The company’s proven CLAYMASTER®, DRILL-X™ HP, WYO-VIS® HP, and WYO-LUBE™ RR will now be available in small, easy-to-handle, 64-oz pouches. WYO-VIS DP
WYO-VIS® DP is a dry fine granular viscosifying co-polymer (PHPA) for water-based drilling fluids. It quickly disperses in fresh water without forming fisheyes. It acts as a clay and shale inhibitor, coating materials to reduce water wetting, which prevents elevated mud weight. WYO-VIS® DP can be used as a stand-alone drilling fluid or as an additive in conjunction with EXTRA HIGH YIELD™ GEL.
APPLICATION
To Improve Mud Properties
Formation | EXTRA HIGH YIELD™ (lbs/100 gal) | WYO-VIS® DP (lbs/100 gal) |
---|---|---|
Fine to Medium Sand | 20 | 1/4 |
Coarse Sand to Fine Gravel | 30 | 1/2 |
Gravel and Cobble | 40 | 1 |
Always add the bentonite product to make-up water first, then the polymer additive.
Stand-Alone Drilling Fluid
Formation | WYO-VIS® DP (lbs/100 gal) | Target Marsh Funnel Viscosity (sec/qt) |
---|---|---|
Fine to Medium Sand | 3/4 | 50 |
Coarse Sand to Fine Gravel | 1-1/4 | 65 |
Gravel and Cobble | 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 | 80 |
Mixing: For best results, slowly add WYO-VIS® DP through the jet hopper (venturi) and circulate. You may also add slowly at the suction line and circulate until completely hydrated and desired viscosity is achieved.
Breaking WYO-VIS® DP: To break down and flush from the hole, add one (1) gallon of household bleach (5% sodium hypochlorite) for every 100 gallons of drilling fluid to be broken.
Wyo-Vis LVP
WYO-VIS® LVP is a shale and clay stabilizer which inhibits the uptake of water into those formations. It is formulated so it does not add appreciably to the viscosity of the drilling fluid. Unlike many such dry polymer additives, it mixes quickly and easily without fish-eyes. WYO-VIS® LVP can be used with fluids generated from EXTRA HIGH YIELD™ Gel or TRU-BORE® without changing the existing fluid properties.
APPLICATION
For best results, the drilling fluid should be at a pH range of 8 to 9 with chlorides less than 1550 ppm.
