February 2017 Consulting Projects:
DER is working currently on a project for Queensland Gas Company (QGC) newly acquired by Royal Dutch Shell plc in Brisbane, Australia.
The project requires a specialized BHA utilizing an over hammer stabilizer for both the upper sections of surface and intermediate casing.  Halco Rock Tool DTH Mach 132 hammer is being used drilling borehole diameters of 17-1/2 in and 13-3/8 in.
For the intermediate section of the well, we are using Halco’s Dominator 880 DW (deep well) drilling 8-7/8 in diameter. Â Again, due to the highly deviated formation, we have recommended the use of an over hammer stabilizer to help keep the down hole hammer from “walking” up the formation and deviating the borehole.
